What good will you derive from Namaz?

As salamu alaikum,

I was reading some of Allama Muhammad Iqbal's work tonight when I came across this thought provoking Urdu verse from one of his poems:

"Jo mein sar-ba-sajdah hua kabhi

tou zameen se aaney lagi sada

Tera dil to hai sanam-ashna

tujhe kya milega namaz mein"

A rough translation of which would be:

Whenever I fell to the earth in prostration, it would cry out to me:

"Your heart is intoxicated with the love (worship) of another beloved,

what benefit will you derive from Salah?"

It reminded me of an oft-quoted Hadith of Rasulullah (sws) when he says:

"There is in the body a clump of flesh - if it becomes good, the whole body becomes good and if it becomes bad, the whole body becomes bad. And indeed it is the heart." (Bukhari)

Just a little something to make us realize the importance of purifying our hearts and understand a deeper meaning of Tawhid - one that is linked to matters of the heart.

Insha'allah may Allah make all of us successful in removing any false attachments from our heart and instill true Tawhid and love for Him in our hearts. A'meen.

Bismillah - Created a blog

Bismillah,

As salamu alaikum wa rehmatullahi wa baraktuhu :)

So, I've finally decided to make a blog where I'll be posting some of the lessons in faith that I learn from my day-to-day experiences and interactions. I hope it can be a source of increase in my E'man and in the E'man of those who choose to read this.

Basically, I had been postponing starting up a blog for quite some time but now that I've started one, Insha'allah I'll try to be regular at it and put in my best effort. I ask Allah to place His blessings and guidance in this initiative and make it successful as a means of pleasing Him, Insha'allah. And I ask of Him that He brings about only goodness from this. A'meen.
